One of the best lessons I have learned from being in the USAF for 20 years is to apply the "Chain of Command" management approach to the civilian business world.
Since retiring from the military, I have partnered with a company based in Scottsdale, AZ that uses the media to bring in customers for us. I have over 64,000 customers and there is no way I can stay in personal contact with them all.
So, I use the "Chain of Command" to ensure that everyone is taken care of.
I have leaders who work with people they are responsible for, and there are people in their group who work with those in their group, etc. This is a very effective way to run a large business, and I thank the military for making me aware of it.
