Saluting Our Nation's Veterans | RallyPoint.com

Today marks a special day of reflection for those who wear, or have worn, the military uniform.  Many memories come to mind for each of us; some of these are private a tough to think about, and others are lighter to carry forward with us.  While we could elaborate for hours on this day's significance for our military community, we'd like to spend these moments in quiet reflection.

The first word that comes to mind today is BROTHERHOOD.  That's what we are: brothers and sisters.

We'll leave off this post with one of our favorite pieces on brotherhood, and we feel this is a fitting way to summarize many veterans' feelings on this day.  Once again, thank you to every veteran out there for wearing the uniform and dog tags.

Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say, “These wounds I had on Crispian’s day.”
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he’ll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words,
Harry the King, Bedford, and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb’red.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered,
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers.
For he today that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother...
-- Shakespeare, Henry V
